Position Title: Band/Music Teacher
Reports to: Principal
FLSA Class: Exempt

SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing band and music instruction for students in grades K-8.
DUTIES
- Lead and develop Hampton’s music programming, including general music, band, and choir.
- Teach general music for kindergarten through 5th grade students.
- Provide band lessons for individual and small groups of 5th-8th grade students.
- Teach junior high band.
- Lead the school-sponsored music concerts and programs.
- Recruit and develop the music program.
- Promotes band and choir program and student enrollment.
- Establishes goals and plans for social and other activities related to the Music Department.
- Conducts meetings to discuss plans for future events.
- Plans, organizes, and supervises music field trips as needed and approved per academic year.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned by administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.
- Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
- Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
- Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
- Ability to communicate with students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: English Language Learners Teacher (2 days/week)
Reports to: Principal
FLSA Class: Exempt
Effective Date: August 5, 2024
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for working closely with students who are eligible for English language learning services on a regular basis in an effort to provide them with the academic and emotional support they need to fully access core instruction and benefit from the district’s education programming.
DUTIES
- Discusses assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Prepares lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations as needed.
- Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
- Establishes as fully as possible a positive relationship with students, staff, and families.
- Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeteria, school yard, and gymnasium, or on field trips.
- Distributes teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students.
- Distributes tests and homework assignments and collects them when they are completed.
- Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
- Grades homework and tests, and computes and records results, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices as requested.
- Completes required reports in a timely manner.
- Teaches socially acceptable behavior, employing positive reinforcement.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Evaluates academic and social growth of students, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Administers annual ELL testing and screeners. Reports results to administration.
- Assists the classroom teacher in other tasks necessary in maintaining a professional and positive classroom environment and performs other duties as may be assigned by the classroom teacher, administration or Board of Education.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Teaching certificate for the particular position as required by the State.
- Must be familiar with the use of computers including but not limited to email, the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Google Suite).
- Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
- Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner
CONTRACT INFORMATION
This position is for 2 days/week. Depending upon student needs in the future, the position could be increased to 3 days/week. Please refer to the Hampton School District 29 Teacher Contract for additional information.
